INAUGURAL MEETING AGENDA

Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 6PM
                   River Reader 13655 Main St Guerneville, CA                   

I. CALL TO ORDER
Grand Poobah Emeritus Pat Nolan will open the Inaugural Meeting of The New Black Bart Poetry Society with the invocation from founding poet, Chas. E. Boles as well as a portion of the provional mission statement further explicating the Society’s motto, “for those who think poetry is a crime.”  

II. MEMBERSHIP/OFFICER ELECTION
Call for nominations of three select officers: Grand Poobah/Moderator, Secretary/Historian, and Treasurer/ Sergeant-at-Arms.  

A membership sign-up sheet will be made available for those who wish to participate while the duties and responsibilities of membership in The New Black Bart Poetry Society are explained, fashioned, and debated. Alias or ‘go-bys’ will be claimed or assigned (after all what’s a Society without secret names?  However, no secret handshakes are planned.)  Also temporary membership cards will be issued. 

III. GUEST SPEAKER &/OR TOPIC: 

The New Black Bart Poetry SocietyIts Prehistory, History, and Future
Grand Poobah Emeritus Pat Nolan will deliver the opening lecture on the inception of the original Black Bart Poetry Society, its history as recorded in the annals of Life Of Crime, its scurrilous newsletter, and its future as The New Black Bart Poetry Society, a viable community based Society of individuals with an abiding interest in the art of poetry. 

IV. ROUGH & TUMBLE
(Discussion of provisional mission statement and the evening’s topic)
A chance for the membership to voice their opinions about the evening’s topic and contribute to the provisional mission statement as well as comment on various aspects of the art of poetry and suggest future agendas. 

V. ASSESSMENT OF DUES & MOTION TO ADJOURN*
Bring a friend and share the pain.  Call for motion to adjourn.

 *Advisory Board meeting (Officers and member volunteers) in the boardroom at The Bullpen after general meeting to discuss future agenda items and event planning.
